Shopping shopping and more

I do like to shop.

I like the hunting part of thrift store shopping and over the years I have bought my fair share of stuff.

It was close to 20 years ago that I learned that I could actually part with some stuff and make money!

A little antique store in our town was turning into a “mall” – a new idea at the time, and  friend and I decided to share a space for about $35 each(that was a big scary investment) and we had a place to sell things.

Oh, and sell we did.  It was great.

Selling has been my hobby for years.

Now that the economy has my travel agency biz circling the drain- selling has now become a priority.

I did not know if I would like selling more full time –  I thought it might take the fun out of it  – but it has not.

To top it off – an antique pal and I are are going to have a big BIG sale in my building in October.

I always wanted to build a website and it was pretty easy on my new(ish) mac computer.   I have an idea or two or three for more websites.

I want to learn how to host my own blog.

That can’t be too difficult.

I just got Photoshop Elements and it has sucked away some of my evening hours.

Oh. The suspense.

I still hate clowns.

I don’t care how sad and lonely they look.

Hate ’em.

I got this at a yard sale.

The LAST Sears Catalog published.

The woman had wrapped this up so nicely.

I got curious.

I wonder when that was?

How long could I hang on without opening that up?

It is so odd to see the flotsam and jetsam of people you do not know on such a regular basis.

Nothing special.

Really.

Maybe not.

The next photo is not from Goodwill.

This happy fellow was in front of the Salvation Army Store.

He was very Very Very uh, happy.

He had rock and roll blasting from the radio that he painted the word, “REVOLUTION” that was tied on the back of his bike.

He danced and sang and danced and whirled.

I was glad I was safely locked in my car…

My friend and I could not decide if it was really GOOD drugs

or

Lack of drugs.

I was not about to ask.

Saving money at Goodwill

I think in the past few weeks I have saved SO much money at Goodwill.

How, you ask?

BY NOT BUYING!

The prices increase and they haul anything they think has value to their internet store.

Somedays it seems like their pricing gun gets stuck on $7.99 for hours at time – item after item after item with no logic applied.

So it is a waste of my time to go as often as I used to .

Not that I don’t like taking pictures of odd items they have for sale – I DO need to find items that I can sell!

This is so dang cute – it got me over being mad at Goodwill  – for a while.

Why would someone not treasure this painting of Charlie that Sophie created with great color and spirit?

Something tells me that these matching cell phone holster/holders may have belong to Jan and Gene.

OK.

So I am a big fibber.

I bought this cool handmade coffee mug at Goodwill.

Today.

How Goodwill rewards their frequent shoppers!

Goodwill is making record profits in this crappy economy and here is what they chose to do for their frequent shoppers as a “thank you.”

Now, if you spend $200 over the course of time – Goodwill will give you a $10 in-store-credit.

Effective in September – they are changing it up – so…

you now have to spend $400 to get that $10 credit.

Hey!

That’s no way to say thank you for record profits!

Now, if you spend $15 in one transaction – you get 5% off the price, and if you spend over $50 you get 7% off the price, and I think over $100 got you a 10% discount.

Because of the record profits that Goodwill is making they are changing that policy also.

They will change that to a straight 5% discount no matter how much you spend over $20.

Hey!

That is no way to say thanks to your customers.

It makes me want to lay down on the floor and have a tantrum.

But that job was already taken.

The new Salvation Army store that opened up down the road has some interesting policies too.

They have specials – like all furniture 1/2 price.

They have random specials just like that ALL the TIME.

They offer a senior discount every day of the week – but on Wednesday – they double that discount to 30%.

Ha.

Take THAT Goodwill.

Goodwill has a funny funny way of saying:

A Goodwill always Clowns Around

As seen on TV.

Why would someone even think they would need this:

I am not sure how setting this up on your pot and getting it to work saves time

over a little stirring once in a while?

And I find the best way to keep my food from burning is to pay attention.

That advice is free.

Not on TV.

I always feel a little sorry for art made by children that ends up at Goodwill.

This face vase must of weighed about 5 pounds!

Still, sad to see it donated away from it’s intended recipient.
