Oh Boy, Did I Save Money Today! Dang it…

The only thing I got today on my  thrift store route today was photographs.

At the smelly thrift store – which oddly, did not smell today, I saw this toaster oven.    Actually, I have seen this toaster oven every day for weeks.  I don’t know if this store ever gets rid of their unsold items – but this really needs to go.

Something about somebody else’s grease that dripped  and caked on the outside of this makes me wonder how anyone could have had the gumption to even put a price tag on it.

I make it a point to never buy hormone cream at Goodwill.

As long as we are talking about the health field, I hope that my doctor does not buy exam table paper at Goodwill.

Call me picky, if you must…

I like ceramics and studio pottery – but not this pot.

Have you ever heard of a geoduck?

If you have, you will know why this pot reminds me of one.

Did not buy it.

These were good student work – but did not buy them….

Sometimes there are strange pairing in the thrift stores.

(I hate clowns and I hate clown dishes)

And sometimes it is like the hand of fate that two totally different items from different eras find each other.

Woo Hoo!

Not a Goodwill day – no Salvation either….

The new Salvation Army Store is not open on Sundays, as I found out last Sunday.

So I decided to change my grocery shopping day to Saturday.

My route:

  • Goodwill Store
  • Salvation Army Store
  • Grocery Store
  • Goodwill Store
  • Home

I live in Oregon.

Today it was raining on and off.

IMG_0209I don’t mind the rain.

There is this funky flashing light at an intersection on the highway to town and it just looks so out of place hanging there in the sky.

IMG_0215I had to sit through 4 lights to make a left turn to where the Salvation Army store is inconveniently located in a weird island between two roads with limited access.

As I sat behind this car, I realized that I knew a lot about the family in front of me.  It was a married couple with 3 young daughters.   Got me to thinking.  Did they want a boy first?   Or second? Or third?  Or are they happy to have what they have?

Do cars in your area have these lame stickers that people put on their cars?  Reminiscent of the “Baby-on-Board” yellow signs in auto windows year ago.  Then it expanded to – “Crazy-wife-on-board” – etc.

There are some large families around where I live and I have seen these decals almost go across the back window of a full-size Ford Expedition .

Daddy Sticker followed my Mom – kid – kid – kid – kid – -kid – baby – baby – dog – cat- fish – ad nauseam.

IMG_0216After the interminable wait to get to this store – there was nothing for me to buy.

So I took a picture of this name tag from someone who must  attended outdoor school.

IMG_0217Celebratory flags above the parking lot of the other store stuck on that weird retail island between two streets.

Nothing to celebrate for me today – well, except more fresh strawberry shortcake tonight!

That would be a YAY, indeed.
